27 July 2011 The secret to style on an urban retreat this summer can be found in designers’ more subdued offerings. The decorative fringed dresses and riotous neon hues that caught the eye on the spring/summer 2011 catwalk should be confined to festivals and holidays in far-flung places as a city break demands a more pared-back approach. Look to MaxMara where clean silhouettes prevailed, their single-colour ensembles in summery yellows and white broken only by the thinnest belts for a clean, unfussy look. Other designers embracing white were Antonio Berardi,Celine, Chloe and Stella McCartney, who all offered a modern take on the classic trouser suit. These smart pieces looked best without added adornment, take tips from the catwalk styling and keep hair pulled back and make up to a minimum. Smart trousers in luxe fabrics formed the basis of many designers’ urban wardrobes this summer: from midnight blue silk at Fendi, to a gold shimmer at Michael Kors. Both were given a modern ease paired with a classic white shirt or a sporty grey jumper. Further easy elegance can be found in monochromatic dresses this summer. Whether you choose the caramel leather at Akris, the heavy white cotton at Derek Lam, or the denim at Stella McCartney stick to simple shapes in a neutral palette. If you can’t resist a splash of colour, reds and oranges will complement your neutrals. Carmine leather shorts at Balenciaga are a great piece to carry you forward to autumn/winter 2011-12, while the vivid orange dresses at Victoria Beckham, Cacharel and Calvin Klein made a big impact but kept a clean cut. Take this lead and keep shapes simple and accessories to a minimum for an easy but elegant city wardrobe this summer.Chic In The City

In Dubai my week starts on a Sunday!
It still feels weird all i want is a lazy day with the Sunday channel four film and a Roast Chicken !!!

TinTin the movie is going to be in CGI? Why couldn’t they have just filmed the actors as they are??? Why did they have to go and use technology…what is the point!!!
God i’m ranty today about the media and film industry!!!
My office building only for another week :(

The Great Gatsby and Iconic book and movie (Robert Redford) has now been remade. I have no complaint about this as i believe that it will be tasteful and will honor the book and film…HOWEVER what the HELL is it doing in 3D???
So unnecessary and leads this beautiful story out of its chiffon era of the 20’s and pulls it into our robotic 3D world???

My sister and I spent the entire car journey to work trying to remeber the name of our favourite childhood computer game….we went to work and forgot about it. She just rung me explaining that in the middle of her conference call to Africa she blurted out very loudly “THE ZOOMBINIS”…there was then a terrible silence…I love it when things come back to you at the randomest times!!!
English people complain about the divide between the social classes!!!
They should come to Dubai and see the divide between the social classes!!!
The guy who came to fix the AC got out of the lift when he saw me coming because he thought it would be ‘disrespectful’ to ride in the same lift as me????
Would you catch a brit in England who classes themselves as the ‘working class’ get out of a lift for me who is classed as the ‘upper class’ ummm NO are you mad!!!!
They would probs get in the lift with me and loot the lift!!!!
